Third Lecture: Research Frontiers in Blockchain and DeFi

Introduction

Table of Contents

Readings

The readings and supplementary readings for this lecture will mostly exsists of academic papers in the field. While the industry accelerates with exponential speed, researchers in computer science, cryptography, economics, and other fields are trying to understand how to best leverage this technology. Where can the blockchains data structure be implemented in socienty? Can DeFi replace parts of the traditional financial system?

Maybe this is the case in other fields as well: nevertheless, in my estimation it is very inspiring that the researchers in this area are from both industry and academia. It is not uncommon to see papers where researchers from both industry and academia are co-authors.
